President Honored the Memory of Babyn Yar Victims

On the 83rd anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of the victims of mass Nazi executions during the occupation of Kyiv in 1941-1943.

The commemoration ceremony for executed Jews and other victims of the Nazis, held at the Babyn Yar National Historical Memorial Preserve, was also attended by Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi, rabbis, and ambassadors.

The ceremony honoring the memory of the executed Jews and other victims of the Nazis, which took place at the Babyn Yar National Historical and Memorial Reserve, was also attended by Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi, rabbis and ambassadors.

Representatives of Jewish religious organizations recited a memorial prayer. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to all those present for honoring the memory of the deceased.

"We cannot forget such heinous times - fascism, Nazism. We must remind everyone about this. Not only in Ukraine, but also to remind everyone abroad that such terrible times must never be repeated," he emphasized.

The President also highlighted the significant contribution of the Allied nations and the Jewish people to the victory over Nazism.

During the Nazi occupation, approximately 100,000 people were killed at Babyn Yar - almost the entire Jewish population of the city. In just two days, September 29-30, 1941, the Nazis shot over 30,000 people in Kyiv, including children, women, and the elderly. The path by which local residents were driven to Babyn Yar became known as the "Road of Death."
