Over this period, a large number of judges, prosecutors, auditors from the Chamber of Accounts, inspectors from the General State Inspectorate, technicians from the Scientific Police, the National Parliament, the National Procurement Commission, and the Anti-Corruption Commission, as well as journalists and members of civil society, have been supported and trained in Timor and Portugal.

As a result, significant procedural changes have been achieved in the quality of audit reports, particularly by the Chamber of Accounts and the First Instance Court's judges and Court of Appeal.

The representative of the National Parliament and Chair of Committee C, Mrs Cedelizia Faria dos Santos, expressed her appreciation for the project's implementation and its contribution to raising the knowledge of Parliament officials in the performance of their duties.

The National Director of the PCIC, Mr. Fernandes e Brito, emphasized the importance of the PFMO project for effectively combating serious, complex, and organized crimes.

During the event, the European Union Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Marc Fiedrich, also said:

"I am grateful to the Camões Institute and the PFMO team for this exercise, which allows us to see more clearly how the project has benefited and supported Timorese partners and fulfilled the objectives agreed with the European Union. It is essential that Timor-Leste, which is undoubtedly at a crucial moment in its development, can continue the effort and work initiated by PFMO."

Camoes and the European Union also handed out four vehicles to the beneficiaries PCIC, FONGTIL, and ALFELA at the event.

These vehicles will expand the PCIC's presence and efficiency throughout the country, strengthening its mission to prevent and combat crime. FONGTIL and ALFELA also stated the importance of the PFMO for their work and the vehicles now provided by the PFMO project.

The OSAN POVU NIAN, JERE HO DI'AK project, "Partnership to Enhance Public Service Delivery by Strengthening Public Finance Management and Oversight in Timor-Leste" (PFMO-Component 2), was co-financed by the European Union, to the value of 12 million euros, and co-financed and managed by the Camões I.P. Institute, to the value of 600 thousand euros. It ended its activities in February 2024.
