From September 23-25, the 50th European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC 2024) was held in Frankfurt, Germany. HGtech's subsidiary, HGGenuine, showcased its 1.6T/800G data center and 50G Combo PON access network solutions at the event.
800G ZR/ZR+ European Debut
Longest Distance Lowest Power Consumption
At ECOC 2024, HGGenuine dynamically showcased the world's first 800G ZR/ZR+ coherent optical module, marking its European debut after the OFC 2024 exhibition. The product attracted attention from numerous international customers.
With the rapid development of cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, data centers are facing a surge in demand for higher bandwidth and faster transmission speeds. Europe, with its numerous multinational companies and data centers, has seen long-distance data transmission become the norm. The 800G ZR optical module, with its high transmission speed and low latency, meets the high-speed interconnection needs both within and between data centers, making it an ideal choice for long-distance data transmission.
HGGenuine launched the 800G QSFP-DD/OSFP ZR/ZR+ coherent optical module for long-distance transmission in Data Center Interconnect (DCI) applications. The product outperforms industry standards across key metrics, offering ample headroom to support the iteration of auto-generation models such as Sora and O/1. Notably, the world's first dynamic demo of the 800G ZR module, which conforms to the OIF 800ZR standard, supports OFEC, and is compatible with four modes: 800GE, 2400GE, 4200GE, and 8*100GE. The module supports +4dBm high output optical power and can achieve 120 km of point-to-point transmission without external optical amplifiers, facilitating ultra-long-distance transmission without the need for relay amplifiers in DCI optical layers.
50G PON Leading Next-Generation All-Optical Access Technology: Extensive Coverage, Simplified Deployment
Europe is a key strategic market for access networks. At ECOC 2024, HGGenuine dynamically demonstrated the 50G Combo PON OLT, a crucial technology supporting the next generation of all-optical access.
As the global digitalization process accelerates, emerging applications are placing greater demands on network infrastructure. 50G PON, as the next-generation PON technology, offers five times the bandwidth and 100 times lower latency compared to 10G PON. With its higher transmission speed and better resource utilization, it enables a smooth network upgrade without requiring changes to existing data center layouts or additional equipment.
HGGenuine's new compact 50G PON Combo OLT three-mode optical device, using QSFP112 packaging, has a link budget that meets C+ level requirements. The isolation between the six wavelengths satisfies protocol specifications, with optical crosstalk of 60dB between the transmitter and receiver.
This product combines the demands of the first-generation GPON, second-generation 10G PON, and the next-generation 50G PON, using SC adapters for the connectors. Each port operates independently without interference, allowing for three-mode coexistence. This enhances network flexibility while maintaining compatibility with SFP-DD module packaging, enabling smaller form factors and excellent performance, laying a solid foundation for large-scale deployment of 10G optical networks.
At the OIF ECOC 2024 PlugFest testing site, HGGenuine's 400G ZR, 400G OpenZR+ (0dBm), 800G ZR, and 800G LPO products participated in interoperability testing. The four optical modules demonstrated excellent interoperability and compatibility with terminal switches and network testing instruments, earning high praise from industry experts.
Currently, AI remains a critical market, and focusing on data center construction needs, HGGenuine continues to innovate, launching 800G and 1.6T silicon photonic modules based on self-developed silicon photonics chips.
In the access market, 50G PON technology is set to become the mainstream for broadband network development, with a wide range of applications in smart homes, educational campuses, and smart cities. According to a report from international authority Omdia, the shipment volume of 50G PON ports will continue to rise between 2024-2028, maintaining a compound annual growth rate of 200%. HGGenuine, as the first to enter this market, is poised to seize the upcoming market opportunities with its 50G PON Combo OLT three-mode optical device.
