New Affordable Housing for Veterans Opens in Novato (Video)

Veterans have a new home in Marin County! HCD joined the Novato community at the grand opening of Puett Place, new permanent supportive housing to ensure no veterans who have served our nation face homelessness. Puett Place is part of the Novato Workforce and Veterans Housing development, which will eventually include affordable workforce housing for people experiencing homelessness.

The project is built on the land of the former Hamilton Army Airfield. The project includes three buildings with 50 affordable homes. The first building, Puett Place, provides 24 supportive homes for veterans experiencing homelessness. All homes are targeted for extremely low-income residents earning up to 30% Area Median Income.

A project of Homeward Bound of Marin, the Novato Workforce and Veterans Housing development is supported by $3 million from HCD's Veterans Housing and Homelessness Prevention Program (VHHP) and $14.4 million from HCD's Homekey program. With the passage of Proposition 1, HCD's Homekey program will be expanded, and California can expect the development of more permanent supportive housing for our most vulnerable residents.
