Troop C DWI arrests December 1 - December 7, 2024

Press Release

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 1:38 a.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Katrina J. Trosse, age 43 of Cortland, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers initiated a traffic stop on Pendleton Street in the City of Cortland after observing a vehicle make vehicle and traffic infractions. While interviewing Trosse, a Trooper detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. Trosse was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Trosse was arrested and transported to SP Homer where her reportable B.A.C was .18%. She was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Cortland City Court on January 6, 2025 then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 2:22 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Craig R. Mathewson, age 44 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers observed a vehicle speeding on Main Street in Oneonta and initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing Mathewson, they smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage. After an investigation at the scene, Mathewson was arrested. He was arrested and processed at SP Oneonta. Mathewson was issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on December 19, 2024 then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 3:13 a.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Joshua T. Anderson, age 43 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. A Trooper was dispatched by the Otsego County 911 Center to a report of a suspicious male on Coe Hill Road in the town of Davenport. While interviewing Anderson, Troopers learned that Anderson drove to the area and also appeared to be exhibiting impaired behavior. After an investigation, Anderson was arrested. He was processed at SP Oneonta and issued appearance tickets to the Davenport Town Court on January 14, 2025, then released to a sober third party.

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 11:12 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Ubaldo F. Mironlopez, age 37 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle failing to maintain its lane while on George F. Highway and onto Main Street in the town of Union. While interviewing Mironlopez, Troopers observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment and smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Mironlopez was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Mironlopez was arrested and transported to SP Endwell then turned over to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

On December 2, 2024, at approximately 10:32 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Kenneth L. Franklyn, age 42 of Harpursville, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. A Trooper was dispatched by the Tompkins County 911 Center to a report of a vehicle in a ditch off Auburn Road in the town of Lansing. The Trooper arrived to find the vehicle with Franklyn inside it. The Trooper also smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Franklyn's breath. Franklyn was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Franklyn was arrested and transported to SP Ithaca where his reportable B.A.C was .21%. Franklyn was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Lansing Town Court on December 17, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 4, 2024, at approximately 11:54 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Joseph E. Burch, age 52 of Chenango Forks, NY for the class "E" felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree and the misdemeanors of Driving While intoxicated and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree. A Trooper was dispatched by the Broome County 911 Center to a report of a vehicle that drove onto a homeowner's lawn, struck a Japanese tree and a fence on Marshman Road in Chenango Forks then left the scene. The Trooper was able to locate Burch, his pick-up truck that was observed on the scene of the crash and pieces of the tree in the grill of the truck. While interviewing Burch, the Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. After an investigation, Burch was arrested. While at SP Binghamton, his reportable B.A.C was .14%. Burch was processed and issue appearance tickets to the Fenton Town Court on January 23, 2025, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 5, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Dakota R. Crandell, age 23 of King Ferry, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers on North Triphammer Road in the town of Lansing observed a vehicle following another vehicle too closely and made a traffic stop. While interviewing Crandell, Troopers noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. After performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly, Crandell was arrested. Crandell was transported to SP Ithaca where her reportable B.A.C was .12%. Crandell was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Lansing Town Court on December 17, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 12:32 a.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Simon Gim age 31 of Ithaca, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers observed a vehicle make a left turn on a steady red light at Maple Avenue and Dryden Road in the town of Ithaca and initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing Gim, Troopers smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Gim was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Gim was arrested and transported to SP Ithaca. Gim was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Ithaca Town Court on December 26, 2024.

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 11:54 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Alexander J.N. Caulfield, age 23 of Concord, MA for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. While on State Route 13 in the town of Dryden, a Trooper observed a vehicle speeding and initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing Caulfield, the trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Caulfield was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Caulfield was arrested and transported to SP Ithaca where his reportable B.A.C was .11%. Caulfield was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Dryden Town Court on December 16, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 12:53 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Matthew D. Collins, age 34 of Endwell, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. A Trooper observed a vehicle on Hooper Road failing to maintain its lane and cross over the double yellow line and initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle turned onto Country Club Road in the town of Union. While interviewing Collins, the Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. Collins was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Collins was arrested and transported to SP Endwell where his reportable B.A.C was .22%. He was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Union Town Court on February 4, 2025, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 1:25 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Brandon W. Fancher, age 24 of Cobleskill, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers observed a vehicle speeding while on Main Street in the city of Oneonta and initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing Fancher, the Troopers smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed characteristics associated with impairment. Fancher was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which were indicative of impairment. Fancher was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta where his reportable B.A.C was .09%. Fancher was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta City Court on January 16, 2025, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 3:48 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Joshua L. Vandermark, age 30 of Endicott, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers were dispatched by the Broome County 911 Center to a report of a single vehicle rollover and wires down on Main Street in the town of Union. When Troopers arrived, members of Johnson City Fire, Johnson City Police and Union EMS were all on scene. Troopers interviewed Vandermark who was already outside the vehicle and said he was not injured. The Troopers observed Vandermark displaying characteristics associated with impairment. After performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly, he was arrested. Vandermark was transported to SP Endwell where his reportable B.A.C was .25%. Vandermark was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Union Town Court on January 7, 2025, then turned over to a sober third party.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 4:42 p.m., New York State Police at Margaretville arrested William George, age 62 of Margaretville, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. A trooper initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle and traffic violation while on Main Street in the village of Fleischmanns. While interviewing George, the Trooper observed characteristics associated with impairment. George was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which confirmed impairment. George was arrested and transported to SP Margaretville where he was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Middletown Town Court on January 7, 2025.
