UW Oshkosh alumni Class Notes: July 2024

'73 Carl Wegner (B), of West Bend, is the retired president of Wegner & Associates. Wegner and his wife, '73 Marlene (Lechner) Wegner (B), are expecting their seventh great grandchild in July.

'74 Eugene Lorge (LS), of Newport News, Virginia, retired after over 50 years of military, public and civil service. Lorge was a senior military analyst with the U.S. Army.

'74 Lauren Young (LS), of Milton, completed her doctoral studies at the University of Southern Mississippi.

'78 David Tehle (LS), of San Diego, California, was named board chair for U.S. Foods where he has been a director since 2016. Tehle was the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Dollar General Corporation from 2004 to 2015.

'85 Steve Jorgensen (EHS), of Oshkosh, was named head coach of the Bay Port High School football team. Prior to serving as an assistant coach at Bay Port, Jorgensen was the coach at Fond du Lac High School.

'85 Jan (Ralston) Ptacek (EHS) and '91 (MSE), of Clintonville, was initiated into the DKG Nu Chapter, an international society of key women educators in Shawano and Waupaca Counties. Ptacek had a 37-year career in the Clintonville School District and currently works part-time in the Shawano School District.

'89 Dan Lenz (B), of Oshkosh, celebrated 25 years of service with National Exchange Bank & Trust. Lenz is currently vice president of lending and credit.

'91 Greg Giles (EHS), of Fond du Lac, is the executive director of the Fond du Lac Area Community Foundation. Giles is the former executive director of the UW Oshkosh Foundation.

'91 Michael Gustafson (LS), of Kiel, is CEO of Sheboygan County YMCA. Gustafson has been the Sheboygan Falls YMCA executive director since 2001.

'93 Steve Heimermann (B), of Chanhassen, Minnesota, is executive vice president and head of wealth management with MidWestOne Financial Group, Inc. Heimermann was previously a senior vice president and regional senior investment officer with Northern Trust Corporation in Chicago.

'95 Karen (Woelfel) Schuchardt (EHS), of Sheboygan Falls, is a claim consultant with Acuity Insurance. Schuchardt holds the Certified Leadership Program (CLP) designation.

'95 Aaron Vanden Heuvel (B) and '16 (MBA), of Sun Prairie, is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Wisconsin Office of the State Public Defender.

'97 Travis Froze (B), of Hortonville, is the president of First Business Bank Northeast Region. Froze is married to '97 Jill (Suttner) Froze (B).

'98 Mike Vaughan (B), of Winneconne, is the senior vice president of business banking at Bank First. Vaughan has over 26 years of experience in the banking industry.

'99 Kim (Paape) Esselman (LS), of Appleton, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Esselman is the Housing Choice Voucher Program and Public Housing Program supervisor. She is married to '99 Patrick Esselman (B).

'00 Keri Harke (LS), of Oshkosh, obtained her 4th degree black belt in May.

'04 Jennifer Koenecke (EHS), of Hortonville, is the Neenah Middle School principal after serving as the assistant principal for the past two years. Koenecke was a founding member of the Fox West Academy in the Hortonville Area School District and taught there for 12 years.

'05 Alicia (Smolinski) Frank (LS), of Menasha, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Frank is the associate director of resource development with United Way Fox Cities.

'06 Steven Rosencrans (EHS) and '18 (MBA), of Oshkosh, is an assistant principal at Fond Du Lac High School. Rosencrans has previously been an English and literacy teacher in the Menasha, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac School Districts.

'07 Holly Magnus (MSE), of Kaukauna, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Magnus is the director of curriculum, instruction, and continuous improvement with the Kaukauna Area School District.

'07 Melanie Steinbarth (MSE), of Fond du Lac, is the new principal of Chegwin Elementary School. Steinbarth has 10 years of teaching experience.

'08 Kari (Mathusek) Godsill (LS), of Neenah, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Godsill is the housing portfolio manager for the Appleton Housing Authority.

'08 David Knepfel (LS), of Plymouth, is an officer with the Omro Police Department.

'10 Robert Goplin (LS), of Green Bay, is the new fire chief for the Waukesha Fire Department. Goplin has over 27 years of experience with Green Bay Metro and the City of Green Bay Fire Department.

'11 Dexter Hoban (LS), of Manitowoc, is the general manager for information systems at Acuity Insurance.

'11 Kari (Cassidy) Seefeldt (LS), of Neenah, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Seefeldt is a senior marketing generalist with Bassett Mechanical.

'13 Joe Johnson (LS), of Northfield, Minnesota, is the Rice County director of emergency services. Johnson has over 17 years of experience in the paramedic and ambulance service industry.

'13 Jake Schreiber (B), of Milton, is the regional manager for Advia Credit Union's Wisconsin and Illinois markets.

'14 Christopher Van Dyke (B), of De Pere, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Van Dyke is the director of data services for Capital Credit Union.

'15 Danielle Kolman (LS), of Oshkosh, graduated from the 2023-2024 Leadership Fox Cities program through the Fox Cities Chamber. Kolman is the assistant director of employee and alumni relations at Lawrence University.

'15 Matthew Spence (MPA), of Sheboygan, was appointed by Governor Evers as the Sheboygan County Sheriff. Spence is an experienced law enforcement officer with over two decades of service in the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.

'16 Abigail Martin (LS), of Kaukauna, is a business analyst at Pitney Bowes and finished her ninth season as an assistant track and field coach at Lawrence University. Martin earned a Master's Degree in Sports Management and Athletic Administration in 2019.

'17 Branden Lloyd (LS), of the Town of Wilson, is a senior commercial underwriter with Acuity Insurance. Lloyd holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

'18 Kendyl Clark (MSE), of De Pere, is a high school science teacher for multilingual learners in the Little Chute Area School District. Clark previously taught at an International Baccalaureate School within Green Bay West High School.

'18 Brooke Giltner (LS), of Two Rivers, is an assistant athletic trainer for the Seattle Mariners' High-A affiliate, the Everett AquaSox. Giltner was previously the head athletic trainer with the Green Bay Blizzard football team.

'19 Zach Radde (LS), of Oshkosh, is an officer with the City of Oshkosh Police Department. Radde was formerly a corrections deputy with the Winnebago County Jail.

'20 Amanda Rudnick (LS), of Clinton, Illinois, will graduate with her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in August. Rudnick has accepted an acute care physical therapy position at Carle Hospital.
