Shakitha Johnson Named Judicial District Manager in District 20

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Shakitha Johnson to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 20 which covers Anson, Richmond, Stanly and Union counties. Johnston will oversee 70 probation/parole officers and staff who supervise more than 2,375 individuals in District 20 sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision.

"Shakitha Johnson is driven by hard work and dedication to ensure community safety and oversee our officers who supervise offenders," said Todd Ishee, secretary for the NC Department of Adult Correction. "Her skills, training and leadership are great assets to the department."

"I am very pleased to promote Shakitha Johnson. She's has shown great commitment and dedication to her career," said Tracy K. Lee, deputy secretary for Community Supervision. "Being a JDM is a challenging position, but I know she's up to the task and will do a great job."

Shakitha Johnson began her career as a probation/parole officer in Mecklenburg County in 2007, supervising deferred prosecution cases. Later, she participated in several field operations, served as a mentor in Mecklenburg County, was a member of the Evidence Based Practice sustainability team and the initial officer safety committee. In 2016 she was promoted to chief probation/parole officer (CPPO) in District 27 covering Gaston, Lincoln, and Cleveland counties. In 2022, Johnson was named District 26, Chief of the Year. Most recently, she has served as assistant judicial district manager (AJDM) in District 26, overseeing operations in Mecklenburg County.

Johnson is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a master's and bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
