Hermosa Beach, CA - September 3, 2024 - The Hermosa Beach Open is back! This much-anticipated event, proudly presented by Wedbush Securities, a leading financial services and investment firm, is set to return to the iconic Hermosa Beach Pier Beach Volleyball Courts from September 4-7, 2024. The event promises a weekend of thrilling beach volleyball competition and community engagement, featuring some of the top talent from around the world.

• Time: Matches begin daily at 9:00 AM

Featured Athletes:

Olympians Kelly Cheng, Sara Hughes, Chase Budinger, Miles Evans, Andy Benesh, Miles Partain, Phil Dalhausser, and April Ross will compete alongside international stars like Canadian Sam Schachter and Italian Alex Ranghieri. The event will also feature top beach volleyball professionals such as Avery Drost, Theo Brunner, Julia Scoles, Betsi Flint, Alison Cerutti, and Evan Cory.

Tournament Format and Schedule:

• Qualifiers:

  Wednesday, September 4, starting at 9:00 AM. The tournament begins with qualifiers featuring 66 women's teams and 59 men's teams, using a main draw format under AVP/USAV Beach Rules.

• Main Draw:

  Thursday through Saturday, matches start at 9:00 AM. The main draw will feature 32 men's teams and 32 women's teams, with teams advancing through points, wild card entries, and qualifiers. (22 through points, 1- International wild card, 1- CBVA Winner wild card entry, 8- Through Wednesday qualifier)

• Saturday Finals:

  • 9:00 AM - Women's Winners Bracket Final & Losers Bracket Semi-Final
  • 10:00 AM - Men's Winners Bracket Final & Losers Bracket Semi-Final
  • 1:15 PM - Introduction of all past Hermosa Beach Open winners
  • 1:45 PM - Honoring 3x Olympian April Ross as she prepares to retire this season
  • 2:30 PM - Women's Finals
  • 3:30 PM - Men's Finals
