Campus Events: Fall 2024

Experience the vibrant Marymount University campus this fall semester. Whether cheering at the first home athletics game, reflecting at the Mass of the Holy Spirit or celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, your participation strengthens our Marymount community. Be a part of these moments and help us make this semester great!

  • First Home Game of the 2024-25 Season (August 30, 7 pm)
    • Join us for the first home game of the 2024-25 athletic season as the Marymount Men's Soccer team faces off against Dickinson College. Come cheer on our Saints and help us kick off the new season!
  • Mass of the Holy Spirit (September 3, 11 am-2 pm)
    • Marymount will hold its annual Mass of the Holy Spirit, or "Red Mass," on Tuesday, September 3 with The Most Reverend Michael Francis Burbidge, Bishop of the Diocese of Arlington, as the celebrant. Classes are canceled between 11 am-2 pm that day so that anyone who wishes to attend may come together to pray as we answer the call to academic life at Marymount University. May the Holy Spirit grant us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, fortitude, counsel and faith this upcoming academic year and beyond!
  • Welcome Back BBQ (September 6, 11:30 am-1:30 pm)
    • Join us on the Front Lawn from 11:30 am-1:30 pm for our annual Welcome Back BBQ, sponsored by the Office of Finance and Operations! We encourage all students, faculty and staff to attend. Food will be provided. We hope to see you there!
  • Memorial Service for Dr. Alice Mandanis, former University Provost (September 7, 2 pm)
    • Marymount will hold a memorial service in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Mary to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Alice Mandanis, former Provost and a transformative leader who played a pivotal role in the University's development. A light reception will follow the service in the Administration Dining Room.
  • Sports X Lecture Series: Venture Capital and AI in Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment (September 8, 7:30 pm in the Ballston Auditorium)
    • Join the Marymount College of BILT for the first installment of the 2024-25 Sports X Lecture series, in which presenters explore the intersections of venture capital and AI and their impact on sports, hospitality and entertainment. Distinguished panelists will discuss how AI-driven innovations and strategic investments revolutionize these industries. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn from experts and network with like-minded individuals! Refreshments will be provided.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15)
    • Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15! As Virginia's only Hispanic-Serving Institution and one of the most diverse campuses in the nation, we pride ourselves on amplifying Hispanic voices on and off campus. Keep an eye out for campus activities and social media posts celebrating the amazing Hispanic students and faculty who are proud to call Marymount their home!
  • 2024 National Diversity Career Expo (September 19-20)
    • In partnership with the Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NOVAHCC), Marymount will host the sixth edition of the 2024 National Diversity Career Expo. This two-day event connects diverse job seekers with various employers and includes a career development expo and a national career fair. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come and celebrate diversity in the workplace!
  • Mexican Ambassador Moctezuma's Visit to Campus (September 26)
    • Marymount is pleased to welcome Mexican Ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, to Marymount! After a tour of campus, the Ambassador will speak from 3-4 pm in the Reinsch Auditorium about opportunities between the U.S. and Mexico, our interdependency and common future and his own experiences in education. We hope you will join us for the presentation and give a big Saints welcome to Ambassador Moctezuma and his staff! Please RSVP as seating is limited.
  • Constitution Day Lecture (September 26, 12:30-1:30 pm)
    • Join Marymount's School of Social and Behavioral Sciences for its annual Constitution Day event. Professor Matthew Green, author and lecturer at the Catholic University of America, will discuss the significance of the 2024 presidential election in the context of American constitutional democracy and broader lessons that can be learned from it. This event will be held in the Reinsch Auditorium from 12:30-1:30 pm.
  • Marymount Homecoming (October 11-12)
    • Join us for a memorable Homecoming Weekend at Marymount University on October 11-12! This exciting event promises a weekend filled with fun, community and celebration as we welcome our alumni back to campus. Reconnect with old friends, make new ones and experience the vibrant spirit of Marymount. Stay tuned for the detailed schedule of events.   • Reinsch Pierce Family Campus Hub Grand Opening
    • Opening in November, the former Ireton Hall will become the Campus Hub, a central space for students, faculty and staff. It will house the newly revamped Lola's Cafe, offering a healthy brunch menu, grab-and-go favorites and an expanded Marymount University Bookstore for school supplies, textbooks and apparel. The Hub will anchor the University's new lower quad, featuring an outdoor patio with lawn chairs, picnic tables and green space for the community to gather.
