Tallahassee State College (TSC) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $24,000 grant for its innovative pitch, Grassroots Success: Empowering Students Through Landscape Entrepreneurship. The funding was awarded during the Pitch for the Skilled Trades Competition at the 2024 National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) conference.
"We are committed to providing our students with opportunities that empower them to thrive in high-demand industries," said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, President of TSC. "This grant from NACCE will allow us to expand our efforts in entrepreneurship, equipping students with the skills and confidence they need to build successful careers and contribute to the economic growth of our community."
The Pitch for the Skilled Trades Competition provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, administrators, foundation leaders, and presidents from NACCE member colleges to pitch their innovative projects to a panel of judges with the chance to secure funding. The competition focuses on projects that have a significant economic impact on the local level, including job creation, employment opportunities, income generation, and business launch. Additionally, the assessment includes the projected impact of the project, including expansion through additional funding sources, new partnerships, and the overall benefit to students.
TSC's proposal stood out among the six finalists, showcasing their commitment to empowering students through landscape entrepreneurship. The College's vision for grassroots success resonated with the judges, highlighting the potential for long-term economic growth and student development. The $24,000 grant will enable TSC to implement the program and provide students with valuable skills and opportunities in the landscape entrepreneurship field.
