Congressman Cohen Announces Three National Science Foundation Grants to the University of Memphis

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that two University of Memphis professors will receive $525,000 in grants from the National Science Foundation. Thomas Goebel, an assistant professor at the University's Center for Earthquake Research and Information, will receive grants of $425,000 and $50,000 for seismic research projects. Jessica Jennings, an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, will receive $50,000 to study improved tissue regeneration.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I congratulate Professors Goebel and Jennings, and the University, on being awarded these prestigious National Science Foundation grants. The University of Memphis is known as a research center and these investments in research on earthquakes and tissue regeneration will bolster that reputation while increasing our understanding and improving lives."
