Outstanding Work Performance Awards 2024


The Outstanding Work Performance Award recognizes performance beyond what is normally expected of an employee, including increased workload, special projects, developing or modifying procedures and improving effectiveness and efficiency.

Kelly Bird


Efficiency and dedication were needed as Kelly Bird, administrative assistant, went out of her way to assist Continuing Education in a variety of areas. From planning of hundreds of trips, programs, events and conferences, she has maintained effectiveness even while spending long days on the road, making sure Adventure Tour clients were satisfied. She also assists three program managers and an associate director. The Universities of Wisconsin benefitted from Kelly's exhaustive troubleshooting of Camp Docs, paving the way for youth programming across the universities to use the new software this year with minimal glitches. Her work with the LIFE program has streamlined many processes, help troubleshoot numerous technology issues for members and become a stand-out example of how to work with retired populations in education.

Randy Lutz


For twenty-five years, Randy Lutz, master auto/equipment technician, has worked tirelessly to keep around 150 campus vehicles and pieces of equipment up and running. With a passion for vehicle maintenance, he has come up with creative ideas to repair equipment and save money. He comes in early, stays late and works weekends and holidays throughout the year to assist Grounds crew when needed. Randy also attends trainings to learn updated information for vehicles. Liking to keep busy, students and coworkers also seek him out for auto advice.

Kelly Pickett


Taking on the role of overseeing the Surplus Store, Kelly Pickett, retail operations manager, has evolved the facility to a well-oiled machine. With limited resources, she has found new ways to sell surplus items and utilize the minimal staff to operate the area. Organization and professionalism have been a key to her success in bringing in revenue for the department. She oversees all powered industrial equipment training for new associates in addition to answering phone calls and emails for the various auctions and sales each week.

Erin Raikowski


In her two years as University Centers Information and Tickets Office manager, Erin Raikowski has boosted tickets sales across various sporting and theatre events beyond expectations. Due in part to her cultivation of great working environment for student staff, leading to better retention rates, she has worked diligently to improve the ticket sale experience for both the customer and department hosting the events. She has researched and attended webinars to learn new functions of the ticket system not currently utilized. She has run multiple reports to give departments data on who their customers are, how they make purchases and offering suggestions on how they could market their events in the future. Erin now has a more effective process for reconciling events and can often get the information to the department or event host within a few days of the event concluding.
