Artificial Intelligence Policy Toolkit

Related Topic:Technology

Artificial intelligence-the use of computer systems to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as learning and decision-making-has the potential to spur innovation and transform industry and government. Technological advances in AI continue and a growing number of industries and sectors feel the impact. Recent AI breakthroughs show positive impacts like predicting neurodevelopment deficits in infants, detecting fraud in Social Security payments and increasing productivity for customer service jobs. Questions arise about protections in place to protect consumers from potential bias in automated actions or decisions made across many fields such as education, lending, health care and the ability to create and manipulate audio or video to create deepfakes, a false but realistic audio or video of people doing or saying things they did not actually do or say.

This AI Toolkit provides a wide variety of AI resources for policymakers on the state policy landscape and considerations for different sectors and specific uses, including primers, legislative tracking, issue briefs and podcasts. AI resources in the toolkit span across many topic areas like elections, healthcare, workforce, criminal justice and more.
