New AIS concussion course for healthcare practitioners

New AIS concussion course for healthcare practitioners

Jul 5, 2024

Healthcare practitioners across Australia can now increase their knowledge about the assessment, management, and treatment of sports related concussions, thanks to a new, free online course launched by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Available to all Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered healthcare practitioners, the online course supports the 2024 AIS Concussion and Brain Health Position Statement (developed in collaboration with SMA, ACSEP and APA), which was launched in February of this year.

This course is designed for AHPRA registered healthcare practitioners to learn about the appropriate assessment, management and treatment of sports-related concussions. It will enable all AHPRA registered healthcare practitioners, regardless of their location around Australia, to have access to the most contemporary evidence-based information on concussion.

SMA played a role in developing the resources available in this online course.

The Concussion in Sport for Healthcare Practitioners online course is approximately 120 minutes in duration and is available through the Australian Sports Commission Learning Centre. You will need to sign up or login in to the ASC learning centre to access this course and many other free online courses developed by the Australian Sports Commission.
