Structure Fire
On Tuesday October 15, 2024, the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded to an activated fire alarm at 2420 Harnish Drive, Kiddie Academy. While initial units were responding, SEECOM Dispatch Center received a 911 call from the business reporting a fire in the south utility room. The alarm was upgraded to bring additional resources to the scene while firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack. The fire was extinguished in under 10 minutes but the business sustained minor water and smoke damages.
Staff and children had previously evacuated the building but were relocated to fire station 2 where an organized reunification process was established by staff with the assistance of the Algonquin Police Department. No injuries were reported to staff or children
The Algonquin - Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by the Algonquin Police Department, Huntley Fire Protection District, and SEECOM Dispatch Center.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The business is not habitable at this time and a damage estimate is not yet available.
