01.10.2024

A second flight may evacuate today Bulgarian citizens from Lebanon. So far, a total of 61 Bulgarians have applied to leave Beirut on board the aircraft that the government has arranged. This was announced by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for the media. If there remain vacant seats, these would be offered to EU member states. Figures of Bulgaria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs refer to some 400 Bulgarian citizens in Lebanon but only some of them have applied to be covered by the evacuation flight scheme.

I preferred to undertake the flight while circumstances allow it; as you can see, the situation is volatile, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev noted. He underscored the good performance of the State Aviation Operator and also the contribution of the Bulgarian and partner services to the safety of the flight. Together we watch the situation and react adequately, Mr. Glavchev said further.

Asked by the media about the Bulgarian sailors in Yemen, the Prime Minister pointed out that all institutions work hard to release them. As he said, all that is currently going on complicates the situation even more. We have not ceased our efforts, Mr. Glavchev said.

Concerning the organizational aspect of the elections, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was firm that all arrangements meet the preset deadlines. We have taken measures to hold elections in a normal manner and in keeping with the Election Code, the Prime Minister noted as he emphasized the experience already amassed by the caretaker government in the organization of fair and transparent elections. Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev recalled that the problem related to the storage premises for the voting machines had been resolved on the day before.
