NEWS RELEASE Theft of property arrest emps deputies

EL PASO, TEXAS - On August 22, 2024, at approximately 6:05 p.m., El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies from the Montana Patrol Station were working an off-duty security assignment at the Cielo Vista Mall. The deputies were notified by employees of a local jewelry store that a male subject, who had previously committed a theft of property at another local store was seen in their store. The male subject was observed stealing more than $9,000 worth of jewelry earlier that day. Deputies immediately initiated an active search for the described subject. Deputies were able to locate him and detain him after the subject attempted to leave the area. Further investigation revealed the subject was wearing the same clothing from the previous theft earlier in the day. The subject was also found to be in possession of stolen jewelry. The subject was identified as 40-year-old Adan Gutierrez. Deputies turned Gutierrez over to EPPD detectives.
