President Holloway to Lead Eagleton’s “The Morning After” Post-Election Discussion

The Eagleton Institute of Politics' longstanding program will be produced in collaboration with President Jonathan Holloway's Byrne Seminar to analyze the results of the presidential election.

"The Morning After," the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers-New Brunswick's tradition of bringing campaign experts and scholars together following Election Day, will be streamed live on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. President Jonathan Holloway will moderate the panel discussion to analyze the 2024 U.S. presidential election results while providing a great learning opportunity for students as part of his weekly Byrne Seminar class, "Citizenship, Institutions and the Public."

Registration is required to virtually attend and submit questions for the online lecture hall discussion, which aims to provide a unique opportunity to better understand the presidential, congressional, state, and local-level electoral outcomes in the hours after polls have closed.

"This collaboration is a tremendous opportunity for the Rutgers community and beyond to explore and discuss the results of the election as we know them in the hours after polls have closed and in a forum that supports the respectful exchange of ideas and perspectives," said Elizabeth C. Matto, Eagleton director.

Panelists joining the discussion will be Distinguished Professor of Law Ronald Chen; Mike DuHaime, CEO of MAD Global Strategy Group; Higher Heights co-founder Kimberly Peeler-Allen; and Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women and Politics.

Eagleton studies how American politics and government work and evolve, analyzes how the U.S. democracy might improve, and promotes political participation and civic engagement. It explores state and national politics through research, education, and public service, linking the study of politics with its day-to-day practice.

"Citizenship, Institutions, and the Public" is Holloway's one-semester course for first-year Rutgers-New Brunswick undergraduate students launched in fall 2023 to heighten understanding of the roles and responsibilities of citizenship. The course features conversations with distinguished leaders on critical questions related to citizenship. Guests have included former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Fox News Chief Washington CorrespondentMike Emanuel, former President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Sherrilyn Ifill, and Richard Haass, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations.
