Film students awarded Koerner Camera Systems Scholarships

Portland State University Film students Erika Ramirez and Jenine Dalusong have been awarded the Koerner Camera Systems Scholarships for 2024-25.

The Koerner Camera Systems Scholarship was established in 2015 through the support of Koerner Camera Systems, enabling the School of Film to award two $5,000 scholarships each year to Film students with an interest in cinematography.

Erika Ramirez found photography at a young age and loved its ability to help her pause and absorb the present moment. After years of working with still imagery, she found herself interested in motion pictures and its ability to offer a multisensory experience to an audience. A first-generation college student, Erika chose the PSU School of Film because of the variety of production classes offered in the curriculum and for the opportunity to immerse herself in a community of up-and-coming filmmakers. Erika aspires to work as a documentary and experimental filmmaker.

Jenine Dalusong's interest in film, photography and music guided them to pursue filmmaking as a full-time career. Jenine credits the Koerner Camera Scholarship with helping them to pursue opportunities to invest in their career by developing creative practices and making meaningful work to refine their unique voice and artistic style. Jenine is currently applying their creative energy to music videos and photography. Their long-term goal is to work on feature films that tell stories that resonate with viewers.
