Marquette ranks in top 20 nationally for social media engagement for fourth straight year

Marquette is ranked in the top 20 nationally of 364 NCAA Division 1 schools in social media engagement for the fourth year in a row, coming in at No. 19 in Rival IQ's 2024 Higher Education Social Media Engagement Report. Marquette is the highest-ranked school in Wisconsin.

The report looked at Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter) and TikTok accounts for the 364 NCAA Division I colleges and universities between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024, and generated an overall engagement ranking for each school that blends total engagement and engagement rates.

"Marquette has the second-smallest student population in the top 20, meaning we outperform for our alumni base and size of our student population. Our consistently high engagement ranking is a testament to our successful social media strategy, and the fun challenge every year is exploring ways we can improve it," said Enrique Torruco, associate director of social media. "The addition of Emily Reyes, our digital content specialist, to our social media team last year was instrumental in elevating the quality of our video content across platforms."

Marquette's flagship social media accounts have surpassed a quarter million followers, including:

  • More than 124,000 followers on LinkedIn
  • Nearly 70,00 followers on Facebook
  • Nearly 53,00 followers on Instagram
  • More than 51,000 followers on X
  • Nearly 5,500 followers each on YouTube and TikTok
