Chicago Park District's Annual T.I.P. Fest is Back at Northerly Island Park for Its Ninth Year

This free annual event celebrates the city's multi-talented teens on stage at Northerly Island Park

The Chicago Park District, in partnership with the John Walt Foundation, is proud to host the 9th annual Teens In the Park (T.I.P.) Festival on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 12pm - 4pm. This year's performers will take the stage at Northerly Island Park, 1521 Linn White Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees can expect the same fun as previous T.I.P. Fest years. There will be food, games, resources from different city organizations including the Chicago Public Library and True Star Media, and of course, the performances. This year's show includes a variety of performances from 11 teen contestants, local artists like Zia Jenaye and a closing performance from Chicago-bred rapper, G Herbo.

"I look forward to T.I.P. Fest every year and for the opportunity to celebrate our city's talented youth. We are excited to provide a platform where the teens of Chicago can not only share their performance skills but connect with like-minded individuals and express themselves artistically and authentically," said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Rosa EscareƱo. "T.I.P. Fest exists for our youth to share their artistic gifts with their peers on the main stage and in front of the entire city."

Event Schedule:

  • 12:00 pm: Gates open
  • 12:05 pm: Pre-show invited performances by local bands, dance troupes and DJs
  • 1:00 pm: Welcome Remarks
  • 1:15 pm: Audition Finalists perform
  • 3:30 pm: G Herbo performance

Finalists were chosen after auditions at three different Chicago Park District park locations this summer. The top performers from each audition were chosen to compete at T.I.P. Fest.

Each audition finalist will compete for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize of $1,000, $500 and $250. This year's judging panel consists of music industry professionals, representatives from the Chicago Park District and the John Wall Foundation. In addition to the performances, attendees can expect to connect with local vendors, job and program resources, and enjoy other interactive activities. Learn more about T.I.P.
