Explore the Night Sky at Moon Over Monona Terrace This Friday

Bring the family to the rooftop of Monona Terrace this Friday, September 13, from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. for a dazzling night of stargazing! Peer through telescopes provided by the Madison Astronomical Society to see the Moon, Saturn, and Neptune and other wonders of the night sky.

In addition to celestial viewing, kids can enjoy hands-on activities, educational games, and special prizes. There will also be short, kid-friendly presentations about the observing the night sky and how to watch for a nova outburst. In the case of rain or cloud cover, all activities will be moved indoors.

Program Highlights:

Live Telescope Feed- Weather permitting, the Madison Astronomical Society will have 20 telescopes set up for attendees to observe the Moon and explore other celestial objects.

Kids' Fun Zone- Kids can engage in educational activities, including space bingo, a galaxy toss, constellation geoboard, and more, with prizes to win!

Observing the Night Sky and Nova Outburst Presentations- Learn how to observe the night sky with your cell phone with Physicist and UW Professor Frank Ranallo and how to watch for a nova outburst with UW Space Place Director Jim Lattis.
