Denver Police Arrest Suspect in 16th St./Wynkoop St. Shooting

Denver - Wednesday, August 14, 2024 - Today, the Denver Police Department announces the arrest of a juvenile male suspect for the shooting that occurred in the area of 16th Street and Wynkoop Street on August 13, 2024.

At approximately 5:33 p.m., on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Denver Police officers responded to the area of 16th St. and Wynkoop St. on the report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers located three adult male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and they were transported to the hospital. All victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary findings of the investigation indicate a group of people, including the suspect, approached one of the victims for an unknown reason. After a brief struggle, the suspect fired shots, striking the first victim as well as two additional unrelated individuals who were behind him. Through the course of the investigation, detectives used surveillance video and witness descriptions to help identify and later locate a juvenile male suspect who was formally arrested and is now being held for Investigation of Attempted First-Degree Murder.

Due to the age of the suspect, no records or booking photo are available. The final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney's Office.
