Detectives Investigating Fatality Collision Downtown

Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatality collision in downtown Seattle Friday morning.

At 12:40 a.m., patrol officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at 4th Avenue and Pine Street. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived on scene and extricated two male occupants from a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Despite all life-saving efforts, SFD pronounced the 23-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger of the SUV deceased.

Police determined that a white sedan was traveling northbound on 4th Avenue through a green light. The SUV was traveling westbound on Pine street at a high rate of speed and ran a red light. Both vehicles collided into each other and came to rest on the northwest sidewalk.

The driver and passenger of the sedan were not injured. They both cooperated with authorities. No arrests were made.

Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad processed the scene. They will take lead on this investigation.
