Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a collision that occurred on Sept. 24, 2024, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
At approximately 12:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the fire station located at 5365 East 2nd Street regarding a traffic collision involving a Long Beach Fire Department fire engine and a male adult.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the man to be deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a LBFD fire engine was dispatched to a call for service and struck a male adult who was laying in front of the roll-up door to the fire station as the engine exited.
The firefighters remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The decedent was identified as Michael Ross, a 61-year-old resident of Long Beach.
