MoDOT: Christian and Greene County Bridge Rehabilitation Project Beginning the Week of October 28

Christian & Greene County - Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on 10 bridges in Christian and Greene Counties for a bridge rehabilitation project beginning the week of October 28, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Bridges Locations:

  • Christian County Bridges
    • Missouri Route 14 bridge over U.S. Route 65 in Ozark
    • Route M bridge over McCaferty Branch south of Nixa
  • Greene County Bridges
    • Westbound U.S. Route 60 bridge over James River in Springfield
    • Northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over South Dry Sac River north of Springfield
    • Northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over Farm Road 197 north of Springfield
    • Southbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway) in Springfield
    • Route MM bridge over Missouri Route 360 (James River Freeway) in Republic
    • Republic Road bridge east of Campbell Avenue in Springfield
    • Southbound National Avenue bridge over U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway) in Springfield
    • Southbound Glenstone Avenue bridge over U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway) in Springfield

Contractor crews will rehabilitate the bridge deck with a new driving surface, install new guardrail at either end of the bridge, replace bridge joints and permanent striping. Crews plan to begin the bridge rehabilitating project on the following bridges: Christian County Route M bridge over McCaferty Branch south of Nixa, northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over South Dry Sac River and northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over Farm Road 197 north of Springfield. More information will be released as the contractors schedule gets confirmed for work on the remaining bridges.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Lane Closures and traffic reduced to single lanes with traffic shifts at
    • Route M bridge over McCaferty Branch south of Nixa
    • Northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over South Dry Sac River north of Springfield
    • Northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over Farm Road 197 north of Springfield
  • Temporary automated flagger signals will be used on Route M
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes. No signed detours are planned.
  • Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule.
  • Check MoDOT's Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

  • Contractor: Louis-Company LLC., Grain Valley
  • Total project cost: $3.2 million
  • Contract completion date: October 1, 2026
