The Parcel Ribbon Cutting and Groundbreaking Event

The Town of Mammoth Lakes in partnership with Pacific West Communities, Inc. is celebrating the opening of "The Sawyer" - Phase 1 of The Parcel affordable housing project and the ground-breaking for "The Kingfisher" - Phase 2 of The Parcel.

The event will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 12-2pm at The Parcel Park and attendees are encouraged to arrive to the site via public transit (Purple Line from the Town Park N' Ride), bicycle, or by foot, as public parking will be limited.

The community is cordially invited to attend the festivities that will feature speeches, complimentary food and drinks hosted by the Mammoth Lakes Police Department, tours of The Sawyer, playground, and childcare facility, and informational booths from the project partners highlighting their involvement in this much-needed community project and the services being provided.

Purchased by the Town in 2018, The Parcel affordable housing project will have multiple phases built over several years pending available funding and will have upwards of 500 units at full build-out. "The Sawyer" (Phase 1) includes 81 units (80 affordable units and 1 manager's unit), a child-care facility, and a public park. Funding came from a variety of sources, including the State Infill Infrastructure Grant program for road and infrastructure improvements, the California Housing Accelerator program, No Place Like Home, Mono County MHSA funds, and Town DIF deferrals and a land loan.

"The Kingfisher" (Phase 2) will be built over 2-phases for a total of 148 rentable units (146 affordable units and 2 manager's units) and is being funded by the State Infill Infrastructure Grant program for road and infrastructure improvements, tax credit equity secured by the developer, and Town DIF deferrals, a land loan, and a cash loan. Future phases are currently in the planning process.
