Evon J. Black, '87 & G-'96, associate director of Gallaudet University's Center for Black Deaf Studies, will give a presentation entitled, "Unveiling Untold Black Deaf Stories" at the NAD 57th Biennial Conference in Chicago.

Her presentation will elevate awareness of Mrs. Louise B. Miller, an overlooked hero of educational and racial justice in America. This largely untold story is of the power of a mother's love and how Mrs. Miller's courage and determination profoundly impacted generations of Black Deaf people and helped to reshape our nation's educational landscape.

Participants will also learn how to become an ally to the Black Deaf community and what Gallaudet is doing to ensure a more equitable and inclusive future for Black Deaf students.

Black's presentation will be on July 4 at 1 p.m.
