Seattle police officers arrested a 17-year-old teen for felony property damage during a Downtown protest march Saturday afternoon.
On November 9th at about 3:30 p.m., approximately 200 individuals participated in the Build the People's Movement demonstration at the Space Needle at 400 Broad Street.
The demonstrators marched southbound on 5th Avenue from the Space Needle towards Downtown Seattle disrupting traffic and violating municipal laws.
Community Response Group (CRG) officers observed several tags of black spray paint graffiti on vertical concrete columns of the Seattle Monorail. The damage was caused on 5th Ave between Denny Way and Bell Street.
CRG located and arrested the teen suspect for Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree. Police recovered black spray paint as evidence and found matching paint on her hands.
Police spoke to the juvenile detention staff at the Children & Family Justice Center, they declined to book her for the felony crime(s).
The suspect was processed at the West Precinct due to her juvenile status and released to the custody of her parents.
The graffiti is permanent and wrote various phrases and statements. City service crews will be needed to remove/clean the damaged property.
