Sign up now for your chance to tour Manhattan Project National Historical Park

Registration is now open for "behind-the-fence" tours of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park at Los Alamos National Laboratory Oct. 22, 23 and 24. Tour spots will be determined by random lottery after registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. All registrants will be notified via email whether they are selected.

These four-hour tours take participants to sites where Manhattan Project scientists made history with minimal materials. Step inside the original Pond Cabin, where physicist Emilio Segre's team made the pivotal discovery that the Thin Man plutonium bomb design would not work. Descend into a bunker where experiments helped determine whether the Trinity nuclear test would succeed. See the Slotin Building, where a fatal criticality accident transformed the safety culture of the Laboratory. And hear from a park ranger during the bus ride to the sites about life in a secret city.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens and able to provide proof of citizenship at tour check-in. As an active national security laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory has other entry requirements for visitors; these will be explained during the registration process. These tours are not open to Lab employees.
