Need help with your research? Not sure where to get started? The Razorback Researcher Seminar Series is for you! Hosted by the University Libraries, this series of virtual, in-person and hybrid seminars will explore research basics, how to efficiently use specific resources, citation management and more. All sessions are offered at no cost to attendees.

Library 101
All are welcome to learn about the locations of the five campus libraries as well as the services they offer, including course reserves, computing and printing, My Library Account, remote access, subject librarians, research guides, study rooms, instructional videos, Special Collections, Interlibrary Loan, Ask Us, frequently asked questions and search basics. Hybrid sessions will be held from 4-5 p.m. in MULN 439 and virtually Monday, Aug. 12; Tuesday, Aug. 13; Wednesday, Aug. 14; Wednesday, Aug. 21; and Thursday, Aug. 22.

Overview of Research Information for Graduate Students
This seminar for graduate students will be offered via Microsoft Teams from 10-11 a.m. and from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16. Attendees will learn about the top 10 services the University Libraries offer to help them get started in research and instruction activities and uncover pathways and support that will enable them to conduct effective research. Both sessions will provide the same information, and registration is not required.

EndNote Web Instruction: Bibliographic Citation Manager
Do you have to cite sources for your paper, your thesis or dissertation? In this online seminar, attendees will learn how to manage citations using EndNote Web citation manager. Sessions are set for 2:30-3:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 10:45-11:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, and 11:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. All sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining virtually will be sent to all who register.

Nursing Research: Introduction to Library Resources
Attendees will learn about library resources useful for doing research in the health sciences, particularly nursing. Topics covered will include finding peer-reviewed articles, determining which databases are best for a given topic, citing sources and ways to get help with library questions. Online sessions will be offered from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining virtually will be sent to all who register.

OneSearch Basics
Attendees will learn about the basics of the Libraries' OneSearch, including keywords, limiters, saving searches, requesting, finding special formats and more. Hybrid sessions will be offered in MULN 439 and online from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28; Wednesday, Sept. 4; Wednesday, Sept. 18; Wednesday, Oct. 2; and Wednesday, Oct. 16. All sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining virtually will be sent to all who register.

Business Research Basics: Company & Industry Research
This interactive workshop on business research basics, set for 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in MULN 439, is perfect for undergraduate business students. Attendees will learn how to find valuable information about companies and industries using top databases like Statista, IBISWorld, and Mintel Reports. You'll learn practical skills that will help you in your classes and future career. Plus, with the business career fair just around the corner, you'll get tips on researching companies you might want to work for and identifying industries that interest you. Please bring a laptop or similar device to fully participate in the workshop activities.

Academics and Artificial Intelligence: What You Need to Know
This seminar will cover student use of artificial intelligence and how to ensure that use is compliant with the university's artificial intelligence and academic integrity policies. Tips will also be provided on potential ways to use artificial intelligence ethically in academics and in life. An in-person session will be held from 2-2:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in MULN 439, and a virtual session is set for 11:50 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining the online session will be sent to all who register.

Graduate Refresher
This seminar will be offered in MULN 439 and virtually from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. The session will provide an overview of library basics tailored to graduate students.

Getting the Most out of Google Scholar
Learn effective search techniques and how to find trustworthy, relevant resources in this seminar. An online session will be held from 2-2:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, and an in-person session is set for 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in MULN 439. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining the online session will be sent to all who register.

Mastering the Lit Review
Completing a literature review for your midterm or final? Starting the second chapter of your dissertation? This hybrid workshop is for you! Learn about the lit review process and how the library can support you. The first session will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, and the second session is set for 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining virtually will be sent to all who register. The in-person component will be held in MULN 439.

Nursing Research: Understanding the PICO Framework
This seminar will provide an introduction to the PICO Framework as used in the health sciences, particularly nursing, to help participants develop strong research questions. Online sessions will be offered from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 and from 9-10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining virtually will be sent to all who register.

Research Poster Basics
A research poster can be a great way to showcase your work and to gain experience with presenting. This seminar will cover everything you need to know about the U of A's Undergraduate Research Week poster competition, from the application process to the day of the event. An online session is set for 2-2:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, and an in-person session will be held from 11:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in MULN 439. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining the virtual session will be sent to all who register.

Systematic Review Basics
This hybrid seminar is set for 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in MULN 439 and online. The seminar will be hosted by librarian Megan York, who holds a Systematic Reviews Services Specialization through the Medical Library Association. It is open to all disciplines and will cover the basics of a systematic review from beginning to finish. Instructions for joining virtually will be sent to all who register.
