Foreign Ministry and Mexican Postal Service sign agreement to promote Mexican products in international markets
  • The agreement aims to connect artisans, micro, small, and medium-sized producers in Mexico with the Mexican community abroad through the CorreosClic platform

Yesterday, at the Postal Palace, Luis Gutiérrez Reyes, head of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IMME), representing Foreign Secretary Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, and Rocío Bárcena Molina, Director General of the Mexican Postal Service (SEPOMEX), signed a collaboration agreement. The partnership seeks to promote the products and services of the Mexican business community in international markets through the CorreosClic platform.

In his remarks, IMME head Luis Gutiérrez said the agreement would improve the quality of products and services for Mexicans abroad and benefit artisans, micro, small, and medium-sized producers in Mexico by bringing their products closer to the Mexican community in various countries.

He explained that the agreement would increase the reach of the CorreosClic platform. It will be promoted through the consular network's Financial Advisory Windows (VAF), boosting economic and financial growth within Mexican communities. "The platform not only promotes products but also connects communities globally," he added.

One of the agreement's objectives is to support participants of the Consular Entrepreneurship Program for Mexican Women Abroad (PCEME), serving as a bridge between those offering products in Mexico and those purchasing them abroad.

SEPOMEX Director General Rocío Bárcena said that the Mexican Postal Service launched the CorreosClic e-commerce platform on February 28 to help Mexican entrepreneurs increase their sales and strengthen their businesses. In 2023, online sales reached approximately 658 billion pesos.

She said that the collaboration is important for the development of Mexico's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which can now use CorreosClic to market their products online. The platform, which covers 97% of Mexico, will now extend its reach to all Mexican representations abroad, including embassies, consulates, missions, and liaison offices.

She concluded by saying, "We are the only organization with a communication network that reaches every corner of Mexico and 191 other countries through the Universal Postal Union. We offer the market's lowest commissions and even waive fees for our vendor clients."

The event was attended by the incoming head of the Mexican Postal Service, Violeta Abreu González, and SEPOMEX Corporate Commercial Director Roberto Gerardo Cruz Aguilera. The Foreign Ministry was represented by Jorge Alberto Martínez y Valdés, Director General of Legal Affairs; Tess Vázquez del Castillo Negrete, Director of Inclusive Trade and Regulations; and Julieta Olivia Muñoz Olmos, Executive Director "A", and Luz Elena Romero Quijano, Director of Communication and Outreach, both from IMME.
