NAACP President Reacts to President-elect Trump’s Cabinet Appointments

WASHINGTON - On Friday night, President-elect Donald Trump released the final series of cabinet appointment announcements, marking the completion of a framework for the incoming administration. Appointees include Russ Vought, co-author of the Project 2025 plan, Robert F. Kennedy, known for his conspiracy theories and anti-vaccination platform, Pete Hegseth, accused of sexual assault, Linda McMahon, Kristi Noem, and others.

NAACP President & CEO Derrick Johnson released the following statement in reaction:

"From accused criminals to confirmed authors of Project 2025, the President-elect's cabinet appointments present a daunting outlook for the next four years. Let's be clear - Our 2025 should be a year that advances the progress made in the last four years, not seek to revert it. The NAACP stands firm in our beliefs that education is the backbone of democracy, healthcare is a human right, and economic empowerment begins with equity. Any sworn leader of our nation must seek to uphold the rule of law, not subvert it. We will continue the fight to make progress on the key policies that will enrich the lives of all Americans, not just a privileged few."

In response to the release of Project 2025, the NAACP shaped 'Our 2025', a vision for progress that rebuts many of the proposed policies and governmental erosion that the 900-page document sets forth.
