In addition to improving the efficiency of current status surveys and completed work management at construction sites, Matterport Digital Twin also makes it possible to visualize the "future" by simulating the removal of existing structures and checking the flow of heavy machinery when it is brought in. Even if the relevant parties do not or cannot visit the site, they can understand about 90% of the information by viewing Matterport's digital twin. ・With Matterport, it is possible to introduce about six Matterport Pro3s equipped with LiDAR and RGB sensors for the investment of one terrestrial laser scanner (surveying equipment that obtains three-dimensional observation data) made by another company. This makes it possible to quickly deploy equipment that meets the needs of more sites. - Matterport reduces the effort required for processing point clouds because the AI-enabled photography app automatically performs the registration process that connects point cloud data.

■Typical use cases for Matterport ・Tokyu Construction is already using Matterport in a wide range of civil engineering and architectural sites. For the renovation work of Keikyu Higashi-Kanagawa Station and Kanagawa-Shinmachi Station of Keikyu Corporation, Matterport was introduced to survey the surrounding area of ​​the station building, where no blueprints existed, and has been successful. Data on structures such as slopes and retaining walls is essential for setting up scaffolding for construction work, but Matterport makes it easy to visualize plantings and pillars as digital twins and colored point cloud data, streamlining the creation of 3D models of the site.

・Matterport is used for measuring high places such as highway overpasses and bridges that are difficult to measure manually. Many aspects of the on-site situation can be understood without all the parties involved having to take the time to visit and confirm the site. ・Matterport Pro3 scans one location in about 18 seconds, which is faster than a typical terrestrial laser scanner. In addition, a site that would take a full day to scan using the traditional manual method with a scale can be completed in about two hours by using Matterport Pro3 and an AI-equipped photography app. The time required for work has been reduced to about one-quarter (compared to the previous method). ・Because the site can be easily converted into 3D data, it has become easier to reach an agreement among parties involved even during presentations at new bids. It has become easier to carry out confirmation tasks that were previously only possible on 2D drawings, such as drafting construction plans, verifying plans for bringing in heavy equipment, and checking the distance from existing structures.
