Person With A Gun Call in Mattapan Leads To Recovery of Firearm and Suspect’s Arrest

At 2:51 PM, on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested 42-year-old Dwan Allison, of Revere, MA for firearm related offenses after responding to a radio call for a person with a gun at 1551 Blue Hill Ave., Mattapan.

Officers arrived and spoke with a victim who informed Officers that he got into an argument inside 1549 Blue Hill Ave. with another man, that eventually led to both men moving to the middle of Blue Hill Ave. Officers conducted an investigation and determined that the suspect was in possession of a firearm and fled down Blue Hill Ave. towards Fairway St. following the argument. Officers were provided a description of the suspect and began to search the area.

Several minutes later, Officers observed a man matching the provided description, later identified as Dwan Allison, walking out of the Burger King located on Cummins Hwy. Officers approached Allison and conducted an investigation that led to Allison being pat-frisked for weapons.

During the pat frisk, Officers felt a cross-body bag across Allison's stomach, and when they felt the bag, they immediately felt an object believed to be a firearm. After Officers felt the bag, Allison brought his hands towards the bag, and began actively interfering with Officers efforts to gain control of the bag. Officers attempted to place Allison into handcuffs, but he violently resisted. Officers began issuing verbal commands for Allison to stop as they attempted to gain control of his hands. Fearing that Allison was attempting to gain access to a weapon, Officers took him to the ground.

Once on the ground, Allison was able to place his hands underneath his chest and appeared to be attempting to manipulate the cross-body bag, ignoring officers' commands. After a minute-long struggle, Officers were able to gain control of Allison's hands and secure him in handcuffs. During the course of the struggle, a black firearm fell from the Suspect's cross-body bag.

The firearm was determined to be a "Stoger Cougar 3000" chambered in 9mm. The firearm was loaded with one (1) round in the chamber and nine (9) rounds in the magazine. Officers also located an additional magazine for the firearm inside Allison's bag that was loaded with fifteen (15) rounds.
Dwan Allison was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Resisting Arrest.
