FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 20, 2024

Sacramento - The California Department of Motor Vehicles is temporarily closing the Santa Ana office at 1330 East 1st Street. To ensure the office environment meets stringent health and safety standards for both staff and the public, the DMV has partnered with an industrial hygienist to investigate and test the office, following the discovery of suspected mold found in a non-public area.

A reopening date has not yet been determined.

Until the remediation is complete, customers can visit, and all appointments will be honored, at the following locations:

  • Costa Mesa: 650 West 19th Street (10.2 miles from the Santa Ana office)
  • Fullerton: 909 W Valencia Drive (11.0 miles from the Santa Ana office)
  • Westminster: 13700 Hoover Street (11.3 miles from the Santa Ana office)
  • Laguna Hills: 23535 Moulton Parkway (13 miles from the Santa Ana office)

Before Going to an Office - Try Online First!

The DMV has taken many steps to offer additional digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit, including simple self-service transactions that are no longer available in offices. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver's license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver's license renewal notices, customers must sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov and then opt in.
