Celebrate Philly’s Heroes: Visit the 'Real Life Rockys' Murals!

The first-ever RockyFest is coming to an end, but the art will still be on display for you to enjoy! Now through December 31, 2024, catch the "Real Life Rockys" murals. The murals celebrate four local heroes. The murals are located at the base of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps (2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, 19130).

The Mural Arts Philadelphia artist Ash Ryan created murals of four local community heroes. These heroes have stories of being strong like Rocky.

The murals show portraits of:

  • Chantay Love founded the anti-violence group Every Murder is Real (EMIR). Love started the organization after her brother lost his life to gun violence.
  • Jimmy Young was an iconic boxer. He fought legends like Muhammad Ali and George Foreman and is in the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.
  • Michelle Konkoly is a Paralympic gold medalist in swimming. After a spinal cord injury, Konkoly found the strength to keep swimming.
  • Joshua Santiago founded Empowering Cuts. Santiago gives free haircuts to people who are homeless or fighting addiction.

Don't miss out-visit the murals this December!
