TRAFFIC FATALITY – EAST OCEAN BOULEVARD AND KENNEBEC AVENUE

Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a collision that occurred on Oct. 1, 2024, which resulted in the death of a female adult.

At approximately 10:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East Ocean Boulevard and Kennebec Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located two adults in the roadway and immediately rendered aid. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported one male motorcyclist and one female motorcycle passenger to a local hospital, where the female passenger succumbed to her injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it drifted into the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard and struck a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling westbound. The motorcycle driver and passenger were then thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.

The decedent's identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
