S.R. 104 Bridge Replacement Project Update

CHILLICOTHE - Two weeks ago, S.R. 104 was closed due to motorists ignoring signage and barricades, driving northbound in the southbound lane through the closed work zone.

At that time, installing a temporary traffic signal to manage both directions of traffic was not feasible due to the work zone's proximity to S.R. 32.

ODOT collaborated with the contractor to explore alternative solutions to safely minimize traffic disruption. The two-week closure allowed the contractor to complete additional work, which in turn enabled a reduction in the work zone. This reduction now makes it possible to use a temporary traffic signal to manage traffic flow safely.

As of August 6, one lane of S.R. 104 is open and is being controlled by temporary traffic signals.

The S.R. 104 bridge replacement between S.R. 32 and Long Fork Road project originally began on February 26. The project is estimated to be completed in the fall of this year.
