Food bloggers, journalists, restaurant professionals and representatives of the retail world crowded the hall of the "Freilager, cucina da Colaianni" restaurant in Zurich for the opening of the 9th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.
The guests - welcomed by Michelin-starred chefs Antonio Colaianni and Claudio Sadler, the latter having travelled from Italy specially to prepare a "four-handed" menu - were able to enjoy the best of Italian cuisine prepared according to the motto of the evening: "Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition".
The evening - organised by the Consulate General of Italy in Zurich in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) for the internationalisation and promotion abroad of Italian companies - was introduced by Italian Consul General Mario Baldi, who pointed out that the Week of Italian Cuisine was "a tribute to the richness of Italy's gastronomic culture, which combines health and sustainability, bringing to the table the value of the Mediterranean diet with its benefits of a healthy and balanced lifestyle".
Also, the Director of the ITA Office in Berne, Samuele Porsia, spoke about the Swiss people's fondness for Italian cuisine, as evidenced by the constant growth in exports of Italian products in the agri-food sector, and the need to continue to focus on quality in order to consolidate and further increase the market share of Italian products in Switzerland.
The evening in Zurich was the first of a series of promotional events to be organised by ITA and the Italian consular network in Switzerland during the Week of Italian Cuisine.
