Bridge Rehabilitation Work on School House Road Begins Next Week in Hemlock Township, Columbia County

Montoursville, PA - Motorists are advised that a portion of School House Road (Route 4006) will be closed next week in Hemlock Township, Columbia County, while work is being performed on a bridge spanning Interstate 80.

Beginning Tuesday, October 15, 2024, through Monday, October 21, 2024, School House Road will be closed daily between Buckhorn Road (Route 44) and Frosty Valley Road (Route 4003), while the contractor performs bridge rehabilitation work on the bridge spanning Interstate 80.

Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, weather permitting. No work will be performed over the weekend.

Starting Tuesday, October 22, 2024, School House Road will be closed between Buckhorn Road (Route 44) and Frosty Valley Road (Route 4003), while the contractor performs paving, line painting, and applies a waterproof layer on the bridge. Work is anticipated to be completed on Friday, October 25, weather permitting.

A detour using Frosty Valley Road, Mall Boulevard (Route 42), and Buckhorn Road (Route 44) will be in place through Friday, October 25. Local traffic will be permitted to access local roads from Buckhorn Road but will not be able to cross the bridge spanning Interstate 80.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project. Work includes shoulder reconstruction, roadway resurfacing, structure preservation, signing, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in 2025.
