Pix receives award in the USA

The Council of the Americas has recognized the innovation of the BCB's payment service; the award-granting ceremony will be held in Miami on October 20.

Innovative, efficient, and inclusive, Pix continues to receive international recognition (and national recognition; read more below). Developed by the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB), the instant payment service will be granted the BRAVO Beacon of Innovation Award. Roberto Campos Neto, Governor, will accept the award on behalf of the BCB at a ceremony in Miami on October 20.

The initiative comes from the Council of the Americas (COA)open_in_new, a leading international trade organization whose members represent a range of industries, including banking and finance, consulting services, consumer products, mining and energy, manufacturing, media, technology and transportation.

The award, now in its 28th year, recognizes excellence and leadership in business and policy in the Western Hemisphere.

When describing why Pix was chosen, the COA points out that "since its launch less than three years ago, Pix has been a remarkable success, now being used by more than 700 financial institutions and 80% of adult Brazilians, promoting unprecedented financial inclusion in Brazil".

According to the council, Pix "has transformed the country's financial services ecosystem, leading payments in the retail sector and reducing the challenges associated with payments and money transfer".

For COA, Pix has become a global model for financial inclusion, with central banks in the region (Latin America) and other parts of the world trying to replicate similar initiatives in their markets. The council also highlighted Pix's promotion of competition and transparency.

Governmental recognition

Pix has also recently received other awards, including recognition from within the public administration itself. As part of the 1st IBGP Congress on Public Sector Innovation with a focus on Citizenship, the instant payment service created by the BCB won the overall award, being considered the 'most innovative body in Brazil in 2023'. Pix also came 1st place in the 'Ministries and Federal Bodies' category.

Awards in São Paulo

Pix will also receive the Bandnews "Brazil's Most Admired Brands Award" on October 18 in São Paulo. The BCB's instant payment service came first in the "Payments" category. Roberto Campos Neto, Governor, will attend the ceremony.
