VIDEO: Stay Connected During Hurricane Season in Cape Coral

August 30, 2024

As the peak of hurricane season arrives, the City of Cape Coral urges residents to take proactive steps to stay connected and informed. In the event of a city-wide power, internet, and cell phone outage, knowing where to turn for crucial updates is vital for your safety.

If there is no power, internet, and cell service Citywide:

  • The City will post signs outside every fire station across Cape Coral: This indicates that critical City updates and information is available at that location. Find your nearest fire station here.
  • Tune into B 103.9 with a hand crank radio: They'll broadcast daily City updates and vital information throughout the state of emergency.

Plan Ahead:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Cape Coral Hurricane Guide: The guide, also available in Spanish, is packed with essential information on how to prepare before, during, and after a storm.
  • Create an Evacuation Plan: Know where you'll go if you need to evacuate and how you'll stay in touch with family and friends.
  • Prepare a 72-hour Emergency Kit: Ensure you have food, water, medications to last for the first three days after a storm. Don't forget to pack important documents. Buy tax-free disaster preparedness items until Sunday, September 6!
  • Secure Your Home: Protect windows with shutters or plywood, bring in outdoor furniture, and ensure your property is ready to withstand the storm.
