Crime Map and Updates

Welcome to our crimemap. You can search by address, date range, case number, or specific crime type. The map includes serious felony crimes, vehicle prowls, thefts (except shoplifting), and arrests beginning in Nov. 2020. Click on icons for more detail. Notable Trends

  • Two aggravated assaults reported with one still an open investigation. Officers arrested a suspect in one case after multiple calls throughout the night to the same residence. The suspect strangled the victim.
  • One rape reported where a sexual assault kit was picked up from the hospital. The victim has not yet contacted police.
  • Six auto thefts reported. Two were recovered by the owners of the vehicles. One was recovered by OPD, and another was recovered occupied by Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. They arrested the suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle. In one case, the spare key was left in the car.
  • Four commercial burglaries with two still open investigations. In one case, the display window was smashed, and protein powder and a pride flag were stolen. In another case, screens were removed and windows slid open for entry. Cash and comic books were stolen.
  • Three cell phones were stolen this week, two were stolen while the victims shopped. Two bikes were stolen, one from a front yard and one from a carport.
  • Laptops were stolen in two of the seven vehicle prowls reported this week. There was also another firearm theft. Please remove valuables from your car, especially any firearms.
  • We've seen an uptick in wire theft in Olympia, especially from electrical junction boxes. So far in 2024, over $7,000 in wiring has been stolen from the boxes and over $3,200 in damages to equipment. Please report any suspicious behavior to dispatch, especially overnight, and report any thefts if your business is or has been victimized.

Other Items

  • Officers responded to 1,206 calls for service this week.
  • September is National Suicide Prevention month. Please remember you can call 988 if you or someone you know is in crisis.
  • I'll be out of the office next week so there won't be an update. We'll double up the following week.
  • Lula Fest returns for the second annual free family-friendly event, Saturday, Sept. 28 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Isthmus Park. Join the fun and celebrate Hispanic and Latinx heritage and culture through live music, vendors, food trucks, custom cars and more.
  • In this week's photo, officers walk with students and parents at an Intercity Transit Walk N Roll event, encouraging youth to safely walk or ride bikes to school.
