Tanner Medical Foundation Secures Truist Foundation Grant to Boost Mental Health Access in West Georgia

Tanner Medical Foundation received a $50,000 grant from Truist Foundation to enhance access to mental and behavioral health care in schools in the west Georgia region.

"We are incredibly thankful for Truist Foundation's investment to ensure that children within our community maintain access to the behavioral health care they both need and deserve," said Meagen Thompson, director of behavioral health and business development at Willowbrooke at Tanner. "This grant allows us to reach children through various modalities within expressive therapy, increasing their chances of success on their healing journeys. Truist Foundation's support helps us continue to connect with valuable community partners in the west Georgia area to meet children and adolescents when they need us most."

In 2022, Willowbrooke cared for individuals from 99 out of Georgia's 159 counties, serving 5,538 unique patients. In 2022 alone, approximately 38% of the patients cared for through Willowbrooke programs were aged 4-17, highlighting the critical need for pediatric mental health services.

The grant will fund training, technical assistance, support services and programming aimed at bolstering community wellness and youth services. This initiative is an extension of Willowbrooke at Tanner's ongoing efforts to meet the behavioral health needs of our community.
