Arkansas Democrats Applaud Vice President Kamala Harris’s Selection of Governor Tim Walz as Running Mate

"An Arkansas Kind of Choice for VP, Offers 'Real Promise' to Rural America and Working Families"

LITTLE ROCK - Today, the Democratic Party of Arkansas released the following statement after Vice President Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the November presidential election.

"Governor Tim Walz is an Arkansas kind of choice," said Grant Tennille, Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas. "His leadership in Minnesota has been focused on creating a better state for families, kids, students, and working-class people. As an Army National Guard Veteran and public school educator, Gov. Walz embodies the values and commitment to service that will resonate deeply with the people of Arkansas."

Under his leadership, Minnesota has implemented policies that provide free breakfasts and lunches to all kids in public schools, ensuring that every child has the nutrition they need to succeed. His initiatives reflect the kind of practical, compassionate leadership that benefits all citizens, particularly in rural areas and "red" states like Arkansas.

"For rural people and working families in states like Arkansas, Governor Walz's selection offers real promise," Tennille continued. "It extends the promise of the Biden-Harris infrastructure investments, which have already brought $4 billion to Arkansas's infrastructure and made healthcare more affordable. Governor Walz understands that investments in America will increase our productivity and improve the lives of every American.

"Governor Walz is a choice we can all be proud of," Tennille concluded. "His dedication to service, his understanding of rural issues, and his commitment to improving the lives of working families make him the ideal partner for Vice President Harris. Together, they will continue to build a stronger, more equitable America."
