Lamborghini Temerario, Successor to the Huracan, Spotted Testing

Lamborghini's hybrid V-8 successor to the V-10-powered Huracan was recently spotted by spy photographers during testing. While the overall proportion and shape of the greenhouse seem in line with the current Huracan, the camouflage is keeping some secrets. Still, there are plenty of design details to discern, like a sizable air intake along the top of the quarter panel that can't hide. The most noticeable styling change, however, is the addition of a large side scoop.

The extra airflow will be needed to feed the engine and cool the powerful beast, as the new, 10,000rpm V-8 will pair with a hybrid system that should make this the most powerful "entry-level" Lamborghini sports car to date. Expect an electric motor to assist the V-8 with powering the rear wheels and additional motors to provide power to the front wheels as total output easily eclipses 800hp.

The rear view reveals a tunneled rear hatch that seems to offer a bit more rear visibility than the Huracan Sterrato we recently test-drove, but that's a low bar to clear. The high-mounted, center-exit exhaust should make for a short, efficient path. We're just curious to see how the turbochargers muffle the high-revving flat-plane V-8.

Rumor has it that the Temerario will be revealed in Monterey next month. The week-long car festivities along California's central coast bring loads of Lamborghini's potential customers to one place. We've seen Monterey morph into a string of press conferences, with exotics debuting left and right, so we shouldn't have long to wait before the Temerario is fully uncovered.
