FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (November 1, 2024) - BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), a leading global medical technology company, announced that Michael Cusack has been named worldwide president of the BD Urology and Critical Care (UCC) business unit, effective today.
In this role, Cusack will be responsible for driving the global strategic, operational, quality and commercial excellence of the UCC business unit globally. He will report to Richard Byrd, executive vice president & president of the BD Interventional Segment.
"Mike is a highly effective leader who has demonstrated strategic and operational excellence in his nearly ten years at BD," said Rick Byrd, executive vice president & president of the BD Interventional Segment. "He has a proven track record of developing strong teams that deliver impactful results for customers and patients, including the return-to-market for the updated BD Alaris™ Infusion System. His broad experience across multiple BD businesses and his commitment to BD Excellence position him well for his new role at UCC."
Cusack joins BD UCC from BD Medication Management Solutions (MMS), where he has served as vice president and general manager of the MMS U.S. Region since October 2020. In this role Mike helped grow the business, increase customer retention and played a key role in leading the commercial integration for four acquisitions, including Parata Systems, Medbank, MedKeeper and RapidRx. He joined BD in 2016 as the vice president and general manager for BD Diagnostic Solutions in the U.S. and in 2019, was appointed vice president and general manager for BD's Surgical business, where he focused on driving product development and exploring M&A opportunities to expand the company's expertise and market leadership or presence."
Prior to BD, Cusack spent over 15 years driving business growth, leading cross-functional teams, and delivering innovative solutions to healthcare providers in leadership roles with Danaher's Leica Biosystem and Abbott Laboratories.
Mike was a US Navy officer for eight years and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Loyola University Chicago.
