WILD: Perspectives in Fiber

Dallas Area Fiber Artists 2024 Annual Show: August 14 - September 14

Reception August 22 from 2-4pm

About the show

The Dallas Area Fiber Artists annual show provides a forum for showcasing the creative talents of our members. In addition, our show increases the visibility of our organization and our members throughout the Dallas area arts community and to the general public. It is an honor to have been invited to share this exhibition with viewers at the Granville Arts Center in Garland!

This year's theme, WILD: Perspectives in Fiber, is intended to be interpreted broadly. What comes to mind when you think about the word WILD? A wilderness or wasteland? A state of disorder or disarrangement? Behavior that is not easily restrained or regulated? Consider the following synonyms for WILD: amok, berserk, free, irrational, lush, native, natural, uncontrolled, unrestrained, and untouched.

Our Mission

Founded in 1970, Dallas Area Fiber Artists (DAFA), id a dynamic and progressive organization that promotes fiber art through education, workshops and exhibitions.

Our members range from established artists to new enthusiasts, many of whom employ fiber processes that combine traditional, contemporary and experimental techniques.

DAFA's monthly programs include lectures and demonstrations on subjects such as thread and fabric painting, surface design, papermaking, mixed-media collage, garment design, fiber jewelry, altered books and many other fiber techniques.

We welcome all fiber artists, including art quilters, dyers, weavers, beaders, printers, felters, papermakers, doll makers, embroiderers, and mixed-media innovators.
