BAD NEWS BERNIE: Moreno Faces Scrutiny For Approving Plans That "Raised [Health Care] Prices For Patients," Record "Stiffing" Employees

October 4, 2024

Columbus, OH - It's been another terrible week for Bernie Moreno as new reporting uncovered Moreno's tenure on the MetroHealth board led to "increased prices on most of its services" at taxpayers' expense. Plus, Moreno continues to face scrutiny for the "slew of lawsuits for workers' wages and workplace discrimination" he has faced and getting caught in lie after lie on the campaign trail.

NEED-TO-KNOW THIS WEEK:

  • Former University of ❌ichigan football player Desmond Howard wished his fellow ❌ichigan Wolverine Bernie ❌oreno luck that one day he will get his ❌BA after reporting revealed ❌oreno is lying to Ohioans about having an ❌BA from the University of ❌ichigan.

MORENO VOTED FOR RISING HEALTH CARE COSTS: Recent reporting from the American Journal revealed that during his tenure on the board of MetroHealth, Bernie Moreno approved budget plans that "gave bonuses to executives" at the same time the hospital was "increas[ing] prices on most of its services" at taxpayers' expense - the latest example that Ohioans "can't trust Moreno to lower the cost" of health care.

GOOD LUCK, BERNIE!: Three weeks after the Ohio Capital Journal found that Bernie ❌oreno is lying to Ohioans about having an ❌BA from the University of ❌ichigan, former University of ❌ichigan football player Desmond Howard wished his fellow ❌ichigan Wolverine luck that one day he will get the ❌BA he has falsely claimed to have.

Desmond Howard, former University of ❌ichigan football player: "So rumor has it, you're getting your MBA from Michigan. Man, I think that's awesome. Now, listen, it's not going to be easy… but with that being said, you know you're there for a reason. So whatever you do, you know, don't give up. Keep fighting. You're going to get that MBA, and it's going to be well worth it one day, my friend. So keep up the hard work. Pulling for you.

"I appreciate you being a big Michigan fan too. Thanks for your support. And why not make it four in a row against the Buckeyes, right? Alright, my man, Bernie, go Blue."

MORENO LIED ABOUT SELLING BUSINESSES ALERT: Despite claiming he "sold off all of his businesses to avoid conflicts of interest," Moreno is spending nearly $50 million - $9.5 million on land in Delaware County and $40 million in financing - to open a new Mercedes-Benz dealership.

FAT CAT SPOTTED: Ohioans were reminded of the at least 50 lawsuits against Fat Cat Bernie Moreno in Columbus. Ohioans slammed Moreno for his record of "stiffing workers" and destroyingevidence to get out of paying his employees the overtime wages they earned, along with lying about selling the Chinese-made Buick Envision which contributed to Ohio jobs being "shipped overseas."

️ WHAT OHIOANS ARE READING THIS WEEK:

  • American Journal: "Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno served on the board of a hospital corporation that gave bonuses to executives and raised prices for patients."
  • Statehouse News Bureau: "[Bernie Moreno] is a staunch opponent of abortion rights and has made some controversial comments that have angered some Republicans as well as some independent voters."
  • Columbus Dispatch: "Bernie Moreno committed wage theft. He stole from his own employees and had to pay in the neighborhood of $400,000… Facts don't lie and this one fact should tell any reasonable person all they need to know abouthis true character and priorities: himself."
  • Vanity Fair: "Moreno's business dealings have also come under scrutiny. 'I've sold all my operating businesses,' Moreno told Statehouse News in November 2023… but NBC News reported that Moreno recently filed a personal financial disclosure statement identifying 'himself as a manager of two companies-including a realty business that he lists as an asset-that, according to public records, are developing a Mercedes-Benz dealership.'"
  • The Athens Post: "Ohioans - Democrats and Republicans alike - must remember that Moreno's hurtful language surrounding abortion and false narrative about his wealth make him the wrong candidate to represent women and the working class."

TWEET OF THE WEEK:

CODA: "It doesn't seem like candidate Moreno is running for the people, but rather for himself."
